    The Gloucester Museum of History and Visitor Information offers an excellent starting point for visitors to Gloucester County. The museum, housed in The Botetourt Building, formerly known as the the Botetourt Hotel, was built in the late eighteenth century as a roadside tavern or ordinary and was known as John New's Ordinary. The building is one of the largest, as well as one of the few brick taverns surviving from the pre-Revolutionary period. For 2007, the museum has planned an intriguing scheudle of events and exhibitions, including:
    March & April 2007 - Daffodil Exhibit.

    May 2007 - National Military Appreciation Month Exhibit.

    May thru September 2007 - "The Good Old Days".

    The Gloucester Department of Community Education is hosting a County Wide volunteer orientation for parents and community members of all ages who are interested in any capacity of volunteering at one of our 6 elementary schools.     The Virginia Department of Forestry has conducted a study whioch rates the risk of fire in Gloucester as high for large portions of the county.
